Power Soccer is the fastest growing sport for power wheelchair users. The sport was originally developed in France in the early 70’s and was introduced to the United States in the early 80’s. Since then many countries created their own version of the sport which led to an international meeting in Paris, France 2005. It was the vision of the six countries that attended to create an international organization and unify the rules for international competition. The international organization, "Federation International de Powerchair Football Association" was born. This development led to the formal organization of the United States Power Soccer Association (USPSA) in 2006.

How did you hear about power soccer?

I was writing a story on adaptive sports for the newspaper at Arizona State University and was introduced to power soccer by the recreation therapist. After attending a local practice and writing the story, I knew I had to join the sport.

What do you enjoy most about power soccer?

I enjoy the competitiveness of the sport. As a kid, I was an avid athlete and loved sports. I thought my days of being an athlete were over after becoming a quadriplegic, but power soccer has rejuvenated my competitive spirit.

What do you do for a living?

I am a Digital Specialist for a Marketing company in Scottsdale, AZ. I also do freelance writing and website design.

What is your favorite power soccer accomplishment?

I’d have to say finishing 3rd in the country in 2013. We had an amazing season and had great team chemistry all year. Can’t wait to see what 2014 brings…
